In silencing the noises and clearing the mind, the heart embraces the beauty of nature and all her inhabitants. The miracle of changing seasons, the mating rituals, the beginning and ending life cycle, the vocal messages echoing through the trees, the smells carried on the wind, and from the first peek of the sun stretching across the sky to its final wink as it disappears are all proof that life truly is a spiritual journey. I invite you to share in my photo adventures and I hope they serve as reminders of the mystery and magic all around us.

I Wonder...

...what was this Great Egret thinking trying to eat such a large fish?
...what was the poor fish thinking as he went head-first down the egret's throat?
...did he turn his back to me because he was embarrassed at downing such
a huge fish...or because he was having so much trouble swallowing it?
...do buzzards ever get tired of eating left-overs?
...if the identification bracelets on this beautiful Osprey
are bothersome or too tight?
...why dolphins spring out of the water?
...just how many
different kinds
of dragonflies
and damselflies
there are?
does this mother realize how dangerous it is to build her nest so close to the ground?

...what's making the discoloration on his head?
...why this pelican flew into a flock of Roseate Spoonbills instead of her own kind?
...why this grasshopper chose to slowly walk instead of jumping off the hot road?
...was she simply drying her wings out or proudly displaying her colors to me?
...are they mates...siblings...or just friends enjoying an afternoon chat?
...is she shivering because the water was cold or the wind was very strong?
...was the poor fish looking at me for help?!
...if this juvenile had gotten in trouble so he was promising his mom he would behave, or
just an affectionate moment between them?
...what scared this Reddish Egret and sent it skyward?
...what was so special about this feather she's carrying in her mouth
that she refused to let go of it?
For whatever reason...she continued down the beach looking for its owner!
...if this Tri-Colored Heron's shading ritual to see the fish in the water always works?
...why this Woodstork was hiding in the bushy area instead of being with
the others feeding in the water, or in the tree tops preening themselves?
...is this bed-head or what?  The wind isn't causing her up-do, otherwise
all of her body feather would be fanning out, too.  Hmmmm?!
...who his hairdresser is; they clipped the entire Pileated Woodpecker spike off!
....if this one big berry he has is jucier than
the two she's having for breakfast?!
...if I'll ever tire of sunsets on the beach,
...silhouettes,
rainbows,
clouds,
full moons,
flowers,
or water?
