I went out by the pool early (6:30) this morning and it was already hot! As I breathed in
the warm air, I closed my eyes and reminded myself that beginning in just a few short
weeks the landscape will be redecorated and the heat will be but a distant memory.
Yes, this heat wave too shall pass so grab a cup of iced tea and pretend it's
hot chocolate as I share some fall and winter images with you.
A splash of bright colors appear on the trees
as leaves cling tightly swaying in the cool breeze.
Great Egrets white against a canvas of red
as the trees, one by one, their leaves they do shed.
Proud and tall their auturm cloak they share
for a few more weeks until their limbs will be bare.
Early morning brings a thin layer of fog
as a white pelican carefully balances on a log.
A new dawn awakens, all dressed in white
from an unexpected visitor during the night.
No picnics today because of the storm
as squirrels hunt for food and try to stay warm.
Playgrounds stand empty with no children around
while geese waddle slowly on ice melting ground.
So if stepping out in the heat makes you sigh with a frown
and your car seats are too hot when you go to sit down;
when you're having a hard time just quenching your thirst
and the temps makes your head feel like it's soon gonna burst;
and even with shoes on you feel like you're standing on hot glass...
