In silencing the noises and clearing the mind, the heart embraces the beauty of nature and all her inhabitants. The miracle of changing seasons, the mating rituals, the beginning and ending life cycle, the vocal messages echoing through the trees, the smells carried on the wind, and from the first peek of the sun stretching across the sky to its final wink as it disappears are all proof that life truly is a spiritual journey. I invite you to share in my photo adventures and I hope they serve as reminders of the mystery and magic all around us.

Belated Happy Mother's Day

I was out taking photos last weekend and time just ran short on posting what few
pictures I have depicting moms and their babies.  So...belated happy Mother's Day.

From the beginning mating rituals...like this Anhinga
head up...
to head tilt and readying wings...to
head down...side wings fanned and back feathers straight up.
Over and over again she performs this ritual until the perfect mate arrives.
A pair of Great Egrets looking forward to becoming parents.
The Great Egret counts down the days when her babies arrive.
So does this Black Crowned Night Heron
and this well hidden Tri-Colored Heron.
Congratulations to a Red Shouldered Hawk...
this Great Egret...
and this Great Egret;
this Osprey...and
the mother of these little hungry Yellow Crowned Night Herons.

May your children grow up happy, safe, healthy and independent:
The Red Shouldered Hawk learning how to fly.
The baby manatee learning how to maneuver through the water.
A juvenile Ibis (left) learning how to fish by observing its Mom.
"What now, Mom?"
A juvenile Yellow Crowned Night Heron unsure what to do now that he caught a crab!

So whether you have...
one, or
two, or
three, or even more, each year as Mother's Day arrives
I hope you reflect back on the years with your children and find them
full of laughter and cherished memories that will carry you through until the next year.
