This is the time of year when I have all the yucky medical exams. I really do
need to move them farther away from the holiday season because they serve
as a reminder of what getting older means.

I find myself yawning
and napping a LOT more;
worrying a lot less about manicured fingernails,
and toenails,
and hair!
There's always at least one limb either hurting or not working properly!
Exercise is more important...AND more painful!
Exercise is more important...AND more painful!
There's always something to scratch
cause something is always itching!
And at times, swallowing isn't as easy as it used to be!
You wake up each morning and find new spots and blotches,
and don't EVEN get me started!
By the way: don't EVER hold a mirror and look down at your face in it!
(Who said God doesn't have a sense of humor?!)
So THAT'S the trick, huh...keeping your head tilted up!
Please tell me if I ever have something stuck in my nose!
Your hearing (or lack thereof) forces you to get up-close-and-personal
to whomever is talking to you.
But the worst is the eyesight! I was watching this gull, thinking it was going to landfurther down, but it landed on the back of the gull instead. I wasn't quick enough
to snap the outcome, plus I almost wet myself (another growing-old gift) as
the bottom gull flew up from being startled...bouncing the top gull into the air.
And this poor squirrel had been eating acorns
when a candy wrapper blew in front of him.
He picked it up and went to town...
certain that there MUST be a nut in there somewhere!
So as I ponder the aging process, I find comfort in knowing
I'm not alone.
I shall embrace the physical changes and be thankful for the experience.
May you grow in grace with peace of mind, love of self and appreciation for all.
And remember:
"Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves
for they shall never cease to be amused!"
