In silencing the noises and clearing the mind, the heart embraces the beauty of nature and all her inhabitants. The miracle of changing seasons, the mating rituals, the beginning and ending life cycle, the vocal messages echoing through the trees, the smells carried on the wind, and from the first peek of the sun stretching across the sky to its final wink as it disappears are all proof that life truly is a spiritual journey. I invite you to share in my photo adventures and I hope they serve as reminders of the mystery and magic all around us.

Happy New Year!

 My New Year's Resolutions:
to be friendlier

and more accepting of others
(Cormorants)
no matter their size...
(Great Blue Heron)
(Black-crowned Night Heron)
(Red Shouldered Hawk)
(Eastern Bluebird)
(Dragonfly)
their color...
(Roseatte Spoonbills)
(Green Heron)
(Mallard, White Duck and American Coot)
(Wood Ducks)
their appearance...
(Some kind of grasshopper but don't ask me which kind?!)
(Ibis)
(Oyster Catcher)
(Woodstork)
(Muscovy Duck - Hybrid)
(Buzzard)
or their food preference...
(Not sure what kind of little bird this was but he was certainly enjoying this slug!)
(Mockingbird)
(Osprey)
(Greedy Osprey...he only ate the head and then flew away!)
(Monk Parakeet - look at his tiny claw balancing the berry!)
(Notice now that he's fully opened his hand to balance it!  Too cute!)
(Juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron enjoys crabs
and snakes!)
(Squirrels love nuts...
on the run...
or just relaxing!)
(They also enjoy corn and pellets left by their human friends.)
(Great Egret with snake...
a mid-morning snack. Sorry the picture isn't in focus better...and
a large dinner to make sure hunger pains don't bother him during the night!)
(Little Blue Heron)
(Red Shouldered Hawk with opossum.)
(Wild Pig)
I also vow

to let any hurtful words or actions directed at me
roll off my back like...well, you know!
And to remove myself immediately from stressful situations!

It is my sincere wish that 2012 will embrace you with
wholeness of body, true love of self and that special someone,
fulfillment of dreams, times of personal reflection and relaxation,
memorable times with family and friends,
and enjoyment of the seasons and Mother Nature.
